India is famous for a lot of things.  Cows in India too have always been a point of attraction for tourists all over the world, be it kids or adults.

If you are travelling on the roads of India, you will surely come across a sight of a cow. Cows are sacred to Hindus in India. They worship it too. It is considered to be a symbol of purity and motherhood. Killing a cow is considered to be a sin. This is why Hindus do not eat beef.

The reason for which cows are holy to Indians is because a cow produces milk. Milk is a nourishing diet for everyone like growing children, ill or wounded individual, old and aged person.

Through milk other by products are also processed, such as butter, curd, ghee butter and many more food items, which are considered to be good for health.  Cow dung is used in rural India as a bio-fuel. In villages, almost everyone has cows. It also serves as a source of income for them.

Despite such an image, you shall be surprised to see cows or other cattle wandering aimlessly on the roads, or footpaths or sitting in between the roads blocking the traffic. It also results into major accidents.

They eat garbage, plastic bags, anything and everything they could gorge on. This is because their owners are poor and not really are able to look after them well. Cows are also used by villagers to plough the fields.

Cows will always be scared to Indians, especially Hindus. You shall be surprised to know that few festivals in India are “Cow Festivals”. On these days, cows are cleaned, dressed up nicely, worshiped and offered great food to eat.
