It’s a pretty amazing thing when you think about it: having three babies all at once! And if you aren’t lucky enough to experience it yourself then you will be amazed when it comes the time you get the lucky chance to meet a parent who has. Seeing somebody with three babies who are all the same age and born together will no doubt cause you to ask lots of questions, so you should always remember to be careful in what you ask. You have no doubt gone through moments with your babies that brought on lots of questions, so try multiplying that factor by three!
Here are some tips when it comes to asking questions to the parents of triplets:
Remember that you probably aren’t the first person today to comment about their kids! They will no doubt receive countless questions, looks, finger pointing and other moments that involve people talking about their kids.
Never be offended if the parent of the triplets refuses to talk to you or seems slightly rude. You have probably raised kids yourself and know what it’s like, well try multiplying that fact by three and then you can understand why they are probably overly grumpy! They are constantly on the go and always in need to get places, so never take it personally should they blow you off.
If they are out with their triplets and have other children with them, never ignore the older children! They will already be feeling very down about the fact that they have three younger siblings that are getting the bulk of the attention in their household so always make sure you say hello and acknowledge they are there also.
Always try and keep your time and comments relatively short and simple. As we have mentioned time is of the essence for parents of triplets so don’t hold them up any longer than need be!
You should NEVER ask them questions about how they conceived their children and what they did in order to get triple the joy. Would you like it if somebody came up to you and just randomly start asking you about your sex life? We highly doubt it.
Parents of triplets can generally always be stressed, overtired and not look like they are having a fun time, but you should always respect them for what they are doing and remain calm and polite to them when you meet them. It is of course a great thing to see a parent with triplets but be aware the attention you are giving them is only what they are getting used to so don’t overdo it! Remaining respectful of their privacy is also extremely important, as is not wasting their time. Put yourself in their shoes if you really want to experience why they are acting a certain way to you and you will soon understand!
