Quick Tips – Travel Checklist

  • Remember that India has a tropical climate with heat and humidity causing a wide range of diseases and infections not readily acquired in northern climes.
  • Make certain you have all your India travel vaccinations completed.
  • Make certain you have duplicate copies of your medication prescriptions – in separate sealable plastic bags.
  • Likewise copies of your prescriptions for glasses.
  • Copies of airline tickets and your hotel / accommodations / credit card details / identification again in sealable plastic bags.
  • Drink bottled water only- WITHOUT exception.
  • Avoid any salad bar type foods where the veges may have been sprayed with water etc.
  • Eat only at busy restaurants and never at road-side stalls.
  • Pack a supply of anti-diarrhea medication such as Imodium.
  • Wash hands before dining or use disinfecting wet tissues.
  • Trim your nails short.
  • Don’t pick your nose.
  • Wear long pants ( protect knees ) and long sleeves.
  • Wear shoes not sandals and check feet for any cuts after leaving temples – disinfect immediately if any are found.
  • Have a small bell on your child so that you will know where she/he is at all times when you’re not watching.
  • Have a ready supply of mosquito repellent at hands- this is a must. Remember they carry a wide  range of diseases.
  • Cover all food  ( cookies, snacks ) that you might leave out in your room or apartment to prevent any flies from settling on them.
  • Use sunscreen lotion as prudent to weather encountered, like-wise pack a hat and sunglasses.
  • Pack spare wall socket adapters for computers and any electronic gear.
  • Pack spare batteries for cameras etc.
