  • A world record to be set in Singapore was the longest domino chain made up by humans. This was broken in the year 2000 and was a total of 4.2km long with over 9000 people in the chain!
  • Still on dominoes and another domino world record to be set in Singapore comes from the biggest ever domino topple. This was created in 2003 by a Chinese man aged 24 that toppled a massive 303,621 dominoes!
  • Two other world records have also been set in Singapore. These are the biggest ever game of pass the parcel, which was set in 1998 and involved 3918 people unwrapping 2200 pieces of paper! The other record was for the most people in a line dancing dance, with a totoal of 11,967 dancers taking part in a dance in 2002!
  • Singapore is a country that loves its movies and going to the cinema, with the movie making the most money of all time in Singapore being Titanic. The movie itself raked in $6.65 million at the box office on its release in 1997.
  • Closely behind Titanic as the Singaporean film to make the most money of all time is the movie Money No Enough. This movie made $6.02 million in the year 1998.
  • There are more people born in the country of Singapore in October than any other month in the entire year. Obviously a lot of people like to celebrate around November and Christmas time!
  • The first ever census was taken in Singapore in the year 1824 and at the time it was found out that only 10,683 Singaporeans existed in the country. The census in the year 2000 showed an obviously dramatic increase from this number, with Singapore having a population of 4.2million people living there.
  • An astonishing fact in Singapore is that 9 out of every 10 locals live in houses that are publicly listed by the government, so in other words public housing.
  • There are several common Chinese surnames that exist in Singapore, these names being Lee, Tan and Tim.
  • There are thousands of kilometres of road in Singapore, over 3000 to be exact. If you were to lay these roads across the entire country it could stretch all the way from Singapore to the country of Hong Kong!
  • Singapore is a country that loves its mobile phones, with a reported 8 out of every 10 people owning one!
  • Singapore has only ever won one medal at the Olympics, and that came in 1960 by Tan Howe Lang in Weightlifting. He won Silver.
